AGRI Information
How much
do students really understand
about how agriculture factors
into what they do
every day?
Our "Classroom in the Corn" acquaints students with agriculture by allowing students to be in the middle of a cornfield, learning about all that goes into raising crops, while also enjoying the experience of finding the maze's one and only exit.
Our "Classroom in the Corn" is AZ Learning Standards complaint:

In this section of the website, you will find information, projects, tests and other agricultural links to help you engage your classes in learning more about agriculture.
"Slow
Food" (as opposed to "Fast Food") is making a resurgence. An
excellent link www.tbsstoryline.com
will give you some good information for class presentations. On this
home page, look at the top, center for "Top Videos" with the title of "Slow
Food".
A recent story in the AZ Republic (Phoenix News Weekend
Edition) highlighted a special event produced by "Slow Food Nation" in San
Francisco. Slow Food Nation addresses a number of issues such as
"Generating ideas to increase public knowledge & support of fresh ingredients";
"Hands-on school programs on sustainable farming"; and the biggee: "Money
to make it happen...the government has given this agricultural area a very small
portion of their budget". for more information, go to
www.slowfoodusa.org.
More information on Arizona Agriculture can be
found on their website, www.azfb.org.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
Ag in the Classroom website has some
really great information.
A new
site was added last year on teaching geography using corn mazes.

Please feel free to print or copy any information for your use in the classroom.
